Erdogan vows to fight for a Palestinian state as Abbas praises the Mecca pact
Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed on Wednesday, August 12, Turkey's support for the creation of a Palestinian state. In Ankara, Mahmoud Abbas defended the Joint Defense Agreement of Mecca (Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey) and thanked Turkey for its support. Erdogan also condemned Israeli actions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and cited the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israel holds the remains of about 1,700 Palestinians to use them as a bargaining chip in future negotiations. The information was released by the Haaretz newspaper on August 11. Currently, no Israeli person remains detained by Palestinian resistance factions.
Trump demands compensation from Iran in any peace agreement
Donald Trump stated that Iran must pay compensation as part of any future peace agreement. The U.S. president also wants to include in the negotiations compensation for deaths and injuries of Americans he attributes to Tehran. The demand comes as negotiations remain stalled and increases pressure on the Strait of Hormuz.
